Laval - Jour overture

On April 28 2007, STM opened the long-awaited extension of the Orange Line from Henri Bourassa to Montmorency with three new stations, all in Laval. As much of a transportation geek as I am, I had never been on the opening day of a new train line. These are my photos from a trip that day, while carrying the 6 month old Giraffe in his backpack.

When I had my Focus in the US, I felt like I was driving a small car (it was bigger than I wanted, but it was a gift and not my choice). Here I feel like I'm driving an enormous car.

Try driving all the rental cars into and out of huge snowbanks. Some small cars are good, some aren't, and this is one of the crucial skills.

How quickly were you looking to replace the Focus? I'll be available in July for accompanying you on test drives! ;-) P.S. N's sleep patterns remind of the Bill Hicks joke, "I need about 8 hours sleep per day, ... and another 8 hours at night."

Wolfa - the timing of that comment is so apposite. We enjoyed the last mild snow-free weekend in the Fit and Monday I was back in the Focus when we finally got 15 cm of snow. It drives on the snow well, but snowbanks... We plan to rent a Yaris and a Versa in the next few weeks and maybe we'll find some snow for the that part of the ownership test.

And TPEM, I think we'll be replacing the Focus before July. But, we can always have test drives of the more interesting cars that month.
