Laval - Jour overture

On April 28 2007, STM opened the long-awaited extension of the Orange Line from Henri Bourassa to Montmorency with three new stations, all in Laval. As much of a transportation geek as I am, I had never been on the opening day of a new train line. These are my photos from a trip that day, while carrying the 6 month old Giraffe in his backpack.

" the prices are sometimes this low I'm not sure..."

This is how:,,0_0141887133,00.html

Well I already know some of it - at least these were real raspberries and not processed food of any kind - and rather than the long journey from Chile (where our winter blueberries have grown), they had a shorter journey from somewhere in Mexico.

The berries right now are so delicious. Although sometimes I wonder if the ease at getting any type of food regardless of season is a good idea-there is something nice about looking forward to a season because you can get a certain item only during that period of time. One relishes the food more.

I've been getting better and better about this as well. Stanley's was a big eye-opener, and I recently have made the Costco plunge for dry goods-y stuff and basic stuff like cereal.

Then when I want a good loaf of bread, I can bounce down to Red Hen.

There's a butcher shop on Broadway north of Thorndale that I've been dying to try out -- I forget the name.

Being from back East, where we have neighborhood fishmongers, I'm still looking for a good place to buy fish here -- any suggestions? I still go to Whole Foods when I need a trusted piece of swimmer, but I wanna find some worthy local place.
