51 years old - another Radio 4 oldie here. And a programme that I was happy to discover is available as a podcast. This programme is like an audio version of the more offbeat foreign stories in the New York Times. The BBC's substantial pool of journalists has made their news broadcasting some of the best around (especially on the World Service). But FOOC is different - it's a mix of news analysis and reflections on life in foreign countries. It can be funny, sobering, heartfelt, and beautiful. One of the most famous pieces is Fergal Keane's Letter to Daniel, broadcast during my last months at university, and it certainly was heartfelt and beautiful. It is just a wonderful programme and I recommend everyone listens to it at least once. I suspect some of you will become devotees.
And from Montreal, a combination of CBC Radio One, NPR and Radio 4 provides excellent brain food, including some of the most informative weather forecasts I have ever heard, VPR's Eye on the Sky. If you have any other recommendations on what I should be listening to, please let me know.
